Camerano is, along with the seaside resort of Sirolo and Numana, an important part of the Conero Regional Park established in 1987. The park is a wonderful environmentalist oasis that covers 5800 hectares gathering places of great beauty where nature is protected and lush, it is displayed in all its beauty. Its also the birthplace of the painter Carlo Maratti, whom left a substantial artistic heritage distributed amongst the town landmarks. Beneath Camerano’s historic centre lies a dense network of tunnels that pass through the labyrinth of caves and ravines as far as a veritable underground city carved in the sandstone. A place of great mystery and appeal that is often the venue for cultural meetings and typical product tasting events.
